013: Those Who Paved The Way - MeatEater

Those who paved the way will be a series on the mentors and influences I have looked up along the way.

For our first installment I want to sing the praises of the entire MeatEater Crew and organization

MeatEater started out as a TV show featuring Author and Hunter Steven Rinella back in 2012 premiering on the Outdoor channel.  Steve regards himself as a “Generalist” who takes parts in all types of hunting and fishing.  The list is long but this includes various types of weapons (Rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, bow, traps) as well as big game (Deer, Elk, Moose, Sheep, Bear, Caribou and even Oryx) small game (Rabbits, Squirrels, Ducks, Geese, Grouse, Turkey) fish (Salt Water, Lake, River, Spearfishing).  Steven wrote his first book in 2006 The Scavenger's Guide to Haute Cuisine followed by American Buffalo: In Search of a Lost Icon in 2008 and then MeatEater: Adventures from the Life of an American Hunter in 2012.  It was 2012 when the First season of MeatEater appeared on the Outdoor Channel. Now with 8 seasons and 108 Episodes under its belt MeatEater has gone from one man’s adventures to a powerhouse of Hunting and Fishing content as well as a guiding light for many in the world of conservation and ethics.

The MeatEater started a Podcast in January 2015 after several appearances on The Joe Rogan Experience, JRE #176 being the first, and after hunting with Rogan and fellow comedian Bryan Callen on S5E3 of Meateater.  They have since produced #233 Podcast most recently with guest Tom Brokaw.
